There’s Much to Do
The East Dallas Area supports many outdoor and indoor activities that you and your family can enjoy any time! One of my family’s favorite things to do is take advantage of White Rock Lake’s trails. With more than 10 miles worth of walking and biking paths in the area, you can spend nearly a whole day just exploring and enjoying the fresh air. If you and your significant other want to enjoy a night out, many local bars, eclectic coffee shops, restaurants and Farmers Markets, like Good Local Markets that enrich your East Dallas experience. Lower Greenville is known as an entertainment district and has an amazing nightlife that draws thousands every weekend with creative drink menus at places like Rapscallion or HG Supply Co. or go see the comedy troop Four Day Weekend.

Additionally, the most popular feature of East Dallas would be the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Perfect for kids and couples, this public venue “promotes the art, enjoyment, and knowledge of horticulture, while providing opportunities for education and research.” And with seasonal decor, you can get a full fall experience or even a 12 Days of Christmas Celebration at the gardens. Be sure to take the kids young and old to the Dallas Firefighters’ Museum in Fair Park.

Nothing Beats the Eats
East Dallas has too many award-winning restaurants to count, with HG Supply Co. being just one of them. One way the community celebrates culture in the area is with good eats. Find popular noodle shops like Monkey King Noodle and superior Thai food at the Thai Thai Restaurant in Lower Greenville. Quality Mexican food is no exception, with spots like Pepe’s & Mito’s. One reviewer on Google even said of the restaurant, “It’s the best Mexican food I’ve ever had!” My recommendation is to avoid larger chains and go out of your way to support local businesses like these if you’re just visiting or moving to the area.

The East Dallas community supports local businesses and restaurants, values having an abundance of volunteer opportunities. One of my favorites is Ferguson Road Initiative. Vicky and her team are doing great things. St. Patrick’s Day Parade and house parties on Lower Greenville, The Deep Ellum Arts Festival, The State Fair of Texas, and many local block parties that each neighborhood is proud of. The people care about each other and about the area itself.
